    Hi all,

    We would like to update you on the rules review. Unfortunately we have decided to set the release date for the new rules to after E3. There are several reasons for this but two stand out.

    Just around E1 we released the draft rule set to our staff team for their feedback - a complex set of rules like these need as many eyes as they can get before they go live. Following their feedback there are a number of changes to the draft rules to be made.

    This leads us to our second reason - some of these changes are very simple, others have a more far reaching impact but either way, agreeing on them, ensuring the balancing works and then amending the rules documents we want to share takes some time - and that has to be found by people who are working day jobs not connected to any of this. To avoid this becoming a burnout situation, we are taking our time and managing our workloads accordingly.

    As a result we expect to be able to share the new rules after E3 and before E4. They will be shared in both rulebook format and via a wiki. We hope, over the winter, to release videos talking about the big changes and how we think about them both conceptually and in play.

    Ahead of that we are going to share a number of posts to cover the headlines around what’s changing in the rules. These will include the following:

    • Archetypes and character progression
    • Crafting - new skills and options
    • Item expiry/changes to resource management
    • Changes to ritual - new options and pathways
    • Non Com changes - making the game more accessible
    • Magic Use, magic pools and knowledge lists/changes
    • Research and how that gets pointed/accounted for within the progression system
    • Transfer of existing characters to the new system
